Lots of times I am guilty of allowing the notion of compartmentalization to capsize me as an individual. I think things like "You can't love fashion and be genuine. Loving fashion is a form of vanity. And vanity is not real. It's not a matter of the heart." Or rattles in my noggin might go something like this, "You sell handmade items. You aren't supposed to promote the movement of frugal fashion too. Pick one, Meg. Pick one."
This idea of one is very real to me. One pace for my life matters. And God knows this. We talk about it, you know. He works with me. Always nudging and redirecting, He's one cool cat like that. I love how He uses people around me to tend to my worries or heart cracks.
k.Mac's first Cheap Thrills Thursday guest model is just one of my heart tenders. Her heartbeats are beautiful reminders. Reassuring me that I don't have to pick just one. I can pick them all. I can love them all even. If & only if the spirit of just who I am shines through my picks.
Spirit. Such a killer word. It transcend-trumps words like fickle, tardy and immature. To be spirited is to have something down deep that resonates with who you are. Something that supersedes the opinions of others and propels you forward with equal parts conviction and grace. Spirit living is the baseline for a confident life. Its cadence rests in Him. And no matter the task or topic, your spirit shines. Sarah Jane Manis is a wonderful example of this word.
I am honored to showcase her on my front porch of frugal fashion. The goal for this GW3 challenge was to find a minimum of 3 items from Goodwill and create the look for less in as many outfits as possible. Sarah Jane found 8 items! We had a blast putting these Cheap Thrills Thursday outfits together.
"Fashion" your seatbelts, people. Here.we.go!
dress: $3.00 Goodwill
leopard print scarf: $.25 Goodwill
We paired these 2 pieces with a great pair of her cowboy boots and a classic denim jacket for one spectacular Fall look. Don't you just love it? I love the idea of using the scarf for a belt as opposed to a around her neck with this ensemble.
Armani Exchange brand jacket: $3.00 Goodwill
Ana brand high-low blouse: $2.00 Goodwill
leopard print heels: $2.00 Goodwill
We boosted the leopard look with one of her scarves and allowed for all the color to centralize on that fabulous orange shirt. I adore this vibe for fall. It's so comfortable and yet dressy too. SJ is rockin'!
J.Crew brand skirt: $2.00 Goodwill
Derek Heart brand mustard shirt: $2.00 Goodwill
Scarf - $1.00 Goodwill
Adding some suhweet lace up boots and a denim jacket, Sarah Jane's look for fall is such fun! I love the gathers in the skirt and the way the colors are all centralized and framed inside the denim jacket edges.
8 items for $15.25 created 3 new and different Fall ensembles with the only additional pieces being boots, a jacket and a pair of jeans from her original closet. The look for less can't get much better than that.
Sarah Jane Manis is a wonderful example of spirit. Her confidence comes from knowing Him and allowing herself to shine outwardly just as much as upwardly. Her picks? They are many. She is a wife, a Rodan & Fields Skin Care Consultant, a P.E. & Wellness teacher, the Assistant Girls' Basketball Coach as well as the Head Girls' Golf Coach for the Jefferson County Lady Patriots.
I love that her life roles are so very different, and yet the rhythm of who she is so very evident in each. I have no doubt God sends me people like Sarah Jane to remind me of spirit and its place in all that I do. I don't have to pick just one. I just have to pick the One who moves me to shine. Thanks so much, SJ.
